Protection For Your Personal Vehicles

Personal Automobile Insurance
Automobile insurance provides coverage for your owned or leased vehicles including cars, trucks, antique autos, and trailers. From basic coverage to comprehensive collision, At VML Insurance, we provide our customers with a full range of automobile insurance options.

There are several different kinds of coverages and options as show below:

No-fault insurance is required by law in the state of Michigan and every vehicle owner must buy certain basic coverages to be able to register their vehicle. Required no-fault coverages are noted*

Bodily Injury and Property Damage Liability* (BI/PD) – provides coverage up to your policy limits for another person’s injuries and/or property damaged in an auto accident (which occurs in Michigan) for which you or your family members are held responsible.

Property Protection Insurance* (PPI) – provides damage to another person’s property, such as buildings and fences, while in the state of Michigan. This includes damage your vehicle does to another person’s legally parked vehicle.

Personal Injury Protection* (PIP) – provides coverage for medical expenses and loss of wages (subject to limitations) for you, your residing family members and your passengers resulting from an auto accident.  Options include coordinating primary and excess Medical and Wage Loss coverages.  Deductibles may also apply.

Optional Coverages

The following are other optional coverages you should consider when buying auto insurance
:

Uninsured Motorists Coverage (UMBI/PD) – provides coverage for your medical expenses and lost wages when you or your residing family members are injured in an accident caused by a driver who has not purchased automobile insurance.  It also pays for injuries sustained in hit-and-run accidents.  However, Michigan’s No-fault law precludes collecting from the ‘at fault’ party unless you or your passengers suffer permanent impairment of bodily function, serious disfigurement or death.

Underinsured Motorists Coverage (UNDBI/PD) – provides coverage for your medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages when you or your passengers are injured in an accident caused by a driver who has insufficient insurance coverage.  This coverage typically pays the difference between your coverage and the other driver’s bodily injury coverage.  However, Michigan’s No-fault law precludes collecting from the ‘at fault’ party unless you or your passengers suffer permanent impairment of bodily function, serious disfigurement or death.

Mini-Tort Liability - This coverage may give you limited property damage coverage up to $500 to cover your legal liability in the event of damage to another person’s vehicle that does not carry collision coverage or has a high deductible.

Comprehensive Coverage - pays for loss or physical damage to your insured vehicle other than by collision or upset.  Some of the covered perils are fire, theft, windstorm, glass breakage, animals and flood.

Collision Coverage - pays for the repairs or replacement of your insured vehicle in the event of an accident resulting from a collision, no matter who caused the accident.  Collision coverage may require a payment of a deductible if driver is determined to be at-fault.

Collision Types:
Broad: Company pays regardless of fault. Insured must pay the deductible if more than 50% at-fault.
Regular: Company pays regardless of fault. Insured must pay deductible.
Limited: Company pays when driver is less than 50% at-fault. Insured must pay the deductible.

Road Service – provides emergency road service (towing and/or labor), at a fixed amount, if your vehicle breaks down or is disabled in an accident.

Rental Reimbursement – reimburses you for your rental car expenses if your vehicle is damaged or stolen and you require a rental car.

Loan/Lease Coverage - Comprehensive and collision coverage may be extended to provide coverage for the unpaid balance of a lease or loan.

Audio, Visual and Data Equipment Coverage – provides coverage for electronic equipment installed in your vehicle, audio media and other sound reproducing equipment as scheduled on your policy.
